I’ve now successfully potty trained my second daughter, and I totally understand. Potty training can be so difficult for some children! Therefore, for you parents in the potty-training trenches, I’ve compiled reviews of the top 5 potty watches to help you find the best potty training watch for your toddler.
Some of these potty watches are so basic they will last only throughout your toilet training process. Others will convert to regular watches and help your toddler tell time for years to come.
Toilet Training Watch Criteria – How to Choose
All of these potty training watches have one thing in common: setting alarms to go off throughout the day. When selecting your toddler potty watch, I recommend picking a watch that has several different options for alarm lengths. While I suggest starting with the alarm every 30 minutes, once your child starts to get the hang of things, you can increase the interval between reminders to one or two hours. This is why having a variety of time intervals is so helpful.
Recharging devices every day is a pain the bum for parents, and it’s even more difficult for kids to remember to charge their watches. Pick a watch with a decent battery life that requires no charging or only infrequent charging. If you want to be able to use the watch after potty training is completed, a longer-lived battery will also be beneficial.
And lastly, consider the extras. Do you want an automatic nighttime silencing mode? What about the option for the alarm to vibrate or play a sound? Will your child want to bathe in the watch or just wash their hands? These are all aspects that will differentiate some of the best potty training watches from the more basic ones.
Best Potty Training Watches for Toddlers – Reviews
Now, without further ado, here are what I consider to be the best toddler potty watches.
1. CUCUBIT Music Potty Training Watch
Timer choices: 30, 45, 60, 90, 120, and 150 minutes
Battery life: 6 months, guaranteed, but likely up to 18 months with NO charging.
Water Resistant: Up to 100 feet
The CUCUBIT watch is one of the most full-featured watches on this list and will please both parents and kids. It comes in blue or pink.
Once set, the CUCUBIT potty watch automatically repeats its alarm up to 28 times per day (every day!) until you choose to reset it. You won’t need to manually turn off the watch or alarms, either, as there is an automatic silent sleep mode. This reason, coupled with the large range of timer choices, is the reason I feel the CUCUBIT watch is the best potty training watch for toddlers.
With the long battery life also, your child should be guaranteed to be potty trained by the time it dies and needs changing. In addition, since you can remove all the alarms, once your child is potty trained, the watch functions as a basic digital watch telling time in a 12/24 hour format.
The alarm reminders to potty are musical melodies, which are fun for kids. Unfortunately, there is no way to turn the alarms to vibrate if you don’t like the sound.
One added plus is this potty training watch is waterproof, meaning your child can wash hands, bathe, or even swim with it on.
2. Kidnovations Premium Potty Training Watch
Timer choices: 30, 45, 60, 90, or 120 minutes; automatically resets
Battery life: Rechargeable batteries requiring micro-USB
Water Resistant: Yes, but not for long submersions
When it’s time to potty, the Kidnovations potty watch plays a musical alarm to remind your child to go try. However, you have the option to set to a more discreet vibration reminder as well. This is great for older kids who would be embarrassed to have a potty-related tune play from their wrist. As such, this is one of the best reminder watches for older children.
With an adjustable band, the Kidnovations premium watch will fit small toddlers’ wrists and grow with them through childhood. The great thing about the sporty design is once your child is potty trained, this will function as a normal watch. Since the battery is recharged with a micro-USB, you’ll have a much longer life for this watch.
The available colors are pink, blue, purple, and black.
3. ABC123 Potty Training Watch
Timer choices: 30, 60, or 90 minutes; automatically resets
Battery life: Rechargeable with micro-USB
Water Resistant: Yes, but not for long submersions
This ABC123 toilet training watch looks like a FitBit and is a basic, trendy watch. With a comfortable silicone wristband, it’s perfect for active children who need a simple reminder to go to the bathroom.
It’s a simple wearable that plays a short musical selection when it’s time to potty. Being so simple, it doesn’t have an automatic nighttime silent feature or anything fancy. As such, it’s not as full-featured as many of the other watches.
To an extent, you get what you pay for. The price is often incredible, but unfortunately, the quality isn’t such that this watch will last you much longer past the potty training phase.
It comes in pink and blue.
4. Potty Time Potty Training Watch
Timer choices: 30, 60, or 90 minutes that automatically resets
Battery life: 30-day guarantee, but then will have to purchase another battery
Water Resistant: Yes, but not for long submersions
One of the first, and thus most well-known, potty training watches on the market was the Potty Time watch. It’s cleverly designed to look a little like a toilet itself and will appeal to youngsters with its colorful design. This is not a watch you want to buy for an older child, though.
When it’s time to go potty, the watch will alternate between one of three comical potty-related songs and light up.
The battery life isn’t great, but if you’re looking for a cheap watch to solely wear during potty training, this will work well for you. Children who like potty humor will find it awesome, and even parents might giggle a bit. It definitely makes potty training a little more fun!
It’s not incredibly versatile, and there isn’t an automatic silent mode. You will thus have to remember to disable the timer after removing the watch each night.
The color options are blue, green, and pink.
5. PottyWrist Potty Training Watch
Timer choices: 30, 60, or 90 minutes; automatically resets
Battery life: Rechargeable with micro-USB
Water Resistant: Yes, technically splashproof, but is not a waterproof kids’ watch
The PottyWrist toddler potty watch is another potty training watch that will last your toddler beyond their potty training days. It features an adjustable silicone band with a cute panda charm. Pick from pink, blue, or red.
It has to be silenced each night manually like many of the other options, but the alarms will repeat once set in the morning. When it’s time to potty, your child will hear a musical melody and see the watch light up itself. There is no vibration option at this time.
With a 1-year warranty through the company itself, you’re guaranteed this watch will see you through the potty training journey and beyond!
My Potty Training Experiences
And for those of you wondering, with my older daughter, she was potty trained in a day. No joke. When she was 2 and I was pregnant with her sister, my husband and I decided it was time for her to get out of diapers. One night we decided to offer her an M&M if she would peepee in the potty. Well, she climbed right up that stool and peed in the potty. I was shocked. Nothing in life up to that point had been easy with her. We offered her 2 M&M’s for poopoo, and well, she took us up on that offer also!
Fast forward to my second daughter who embraced her diaper. Potty training her was not a breeze! It was a long, slow, and VERY MESSY process. The more active of our kids, she was always on the move and couldn’t be bothered to stop to use the toilet when she could just potty in her diaper. With lots of reminders set to potty, we finally got her trained! Phew!
Final Thoughts
I hope these reviews on the best potty training watch for toddlers help you pick a wearable device that will remind your toddler or older child to go potty. Say goodbye to accidents and hello to undies! And just know, there is light at the end of this seemingly neverending tunnel!
